I changed my book to Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. In the book a woman learns that her fiancee has left her a few minutes before her wedding. She completely loses it and stops all the clocks in her house at that time and for the rest of her life lives in her wedding dress in an attempt to freeze time. Her entire house is decaying around her, including in her dinning room where the meal that was prepared for her wedding was never cleared away. She corrupts her niece into hating men and breaking a guys heart as some sort of personal revenge. In the end though she doesn't feel any better and eventually feels regret. She ends up dying when her wedding dress catches on fire, burning her badly.
