McCastlain-Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas

So I have chosen Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson. I think this will be fun for the visual effects and there is so much imagery to work with.
"The novel lacks a clear narrative and frequently delves into the surreal, never quite distinguishing between what is real and what is only imagined by the characters. They begin experimenting with a variety of recreational drugs, such as LSD, ether, cocaine, alcohol, mescaline, and cannabis. This leads to a series of bizarre hallucinogenic trips, during which they destroy hotel rooms, wreck cars, and have visions of anthropomorphic desert animals, all the while ruminating on the decline of culture in a city of insanity."
I have sketched out a few ideas and ran with one that involved the Smith & Wesson seen in the movie. Its only a rough and not committed to it or not sure how it would work out with folds and all. I also think all these ideas have the possibility of being combined.

  1. i like where the warning label is going....also the abstract symbol on page 2 of roughs is interesting, reminds me of the biohazard symbol you see on poisonous materials....i would go for either of the 2 based on synopsis of book....

  2. i like your very first one. i have seen the opening scene of the movie, but i know we're talking about books here, so as long as the novel has the same opening scene then using the briefcase full of drugs as imagery would be fun. on the second page i like the cocaine and razor blade, but i'm worried it might be too innapropriate. is there such a thing in design?!
